Director of Curriculum and Assessment: Math & Science

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Director of Curriculum and Assessment: Math & Science to develop and evaluate world-class instructional materials designed to grow and steward Academic Approach locally and nationally.  

The Position: Director of Curriculum and Assessment: Math & Science 

This exempt full-time position’s overall objective is to develop exceptional math and science instructional materials and assessments. The ideal candidate will be a talented writer with an eye for how to most effectively reach students at a variety of levels. Work location is the Lincoln Park office located in Chicago, IL.  

This position will report to the Executive Director of Education. 

As the Director of Curriculum and Assessment: Math & Science, you will have the following job responsibilities

  • Lead development of math/science curriculum, assessments, and instructional support materials for high school and college entrance exams 
  • Develop and meet project specifications and critical timelines to serve company and client needs 
  • Lead publishing process through final typesetting and printing  
  • Manage development of online instructional and support materials  
  • Follow established protocols for construct and content validity 
  • Commit to meticulous process to ensure error-free materials 
  • Coordinate with directors to support material usage in instruction, to assess current needs, and communicate plans for action 
  • Develop and maintain systems for soliciting, evaluating, and implementing feedback from internal and external stakeholders 
  • Supervise part-time staff to support writing and editing of curriculum, ensuring high quality and efficiency 
  • Work with other Curriculum Directors to identify emerging trends in math/science education

The Director of Curriculum and Assessment: Math & Science position requires the following qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • 3-5 years curriculum development experience required  
  • Experience developing multi-grade curricula preferred 
  • Experience in publishing process and/or typesetting through Adobe InDesign preferred 
  • Math content expertise through Calculus required 
  • History of strong performance on standardized tests and expertise in ACT/SAT content and construct required 
  • Expertise in standard alignment, preferably CCRS, SAT, and/or Common Core required 
  • Expertise in instructional leadership preferred 
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required 
  • Strong attention to detail, flexibility, communication, and organizational skills  
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time 

Compensation and Benefits 

Academic Approach offers very competitive compensation and a dynamic, collaborative, growing company environment.
